About Us

Daanya and Sabine are a part of a group called the EnviroLiteracy Taskforce. ELT is a group of high school students from the San Diego Unified School District that want to see more education on climate change in our curriculum. The two of us go to the same school, Daanya being a junior and Sabine being a freshman.

As a group, ET believes that everyone deserves to live in a world that has a clean atmosphere as well as clean water. Not only that, we also believe that students should have the opportunity to learn about the problems we're facing. This is because we want people to know that we can't do this alone. We can't stop or even slow down climate change by ourselves.

Our planet is irreplaceable, so let's save it together.

The EnviroLiteracy Taskforce

The EnviroLiteracy Taskforce is a group of students from across the San Diego Unified School District that's aiming to add climate change to the long term curriculum. The group is led by Zoë Geller-Alford and Abbie Darling. Young activists are able to speak their ideas to their peers as well as other students in a space where they aren't judged for being an activist. In fact, it's highly encouraged. The Taskforce also allows for opportunities for students that they might not have had if they weren't in the Taskforce. For example, having a platform to create events like planting a garden or doing a beach clean-up. Not only that, but it gives students the encouragement and the push they might need to do something outside of the group.

Our Mission for MEA

Our mission at MEA is to create a great learning environment for students while also keeping the curriculum up to date with current environmental issues. Our mission is to create a sustainable school environment and do our part in mitigating the environmental problems of today’s world. Not only that, we want students to have something to be able to relate about, and we want students to be able to explain problems that aren't being solved enough.
